Jessica Southgate

Dance Adjudicator

Originating from Prince Rupert BC, Mrs. Jessica Southgate began her dance training at Spectrum City dance under the direction of Ella Ferland. It was there that she studied multiple disciplines including Ceccehitti Ballet, Modern, A.D.A.P.T jazz and tap as well as musical theatre and stage. At an early age her potential and passion where recognized and she was accepted into the prestigious Arts Umbrella Professional Training program for dance where she continued her professional training and became inspired by various world renowned choreographers. It was with the Arts Umbrella Dance company she had the opportunity to perform and tour works by, Jiri Kylian, Emily Molnar, Lynn Sheppard, Artemis Gordon, Grant Strate, Wen Wei Wang, Joe Laughlin, Jean Grand-Maitre and Roberto Campanella to name a few.

She has toured across western Canada as well as Montreal and Toronto. Under full scholarship Jessica was invited to join the Banff summer for the Arts program under the direction of Brian MacDonald. After taking some time to travel Jessica began what has become a very fulfilling teaching, performing and creative career. She has taught at the Dance Gallery (Kamloops BC) and guest taught for the Kamloops Preforming Arts, Spectrum City Dance and Masterworks Dance in Winnipeg. Mrs. Southgate enjoys a fulfilling guest teaching career throughout British Columbia and Manitoba, as well as a professional performing career with Gear-shifting contemporary Dance under the direction of Jolene Bailey.
