Singer, pianist, and multi-instrumentalist Kelly Robinson earned a Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Voice Performance and a minor in composition from the University of Manitoba, an Associate Diploma (ACCM) in Voice Performance from Conservatory Canada for which she received the Speake Gold Medal, and a Specialist Certificate from Berklee College of Music where she studied pop/rock vocal styles. Additionally she holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Manitoba where she majored in microbiology and has special interest in caring for the voice during illness and fatigue.
Kelly is a festival adjudicator, masterclass clinician, and voice examiner for Conservatory Canada and was recently awarded the Conservatory Canada Teachers’ Travel and Study Scholarship for excellence in voice teaching. She has performed with Rainbow Stage, the Manitoba Opera Chorus, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Winnipeg, Little Opera Company, and Manitoba Underground Opera.
Recent roles include Zita in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Mad Margaret in Gilbert & Sullivan’s Ruddigore, and Mrs. Segstrom in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. She has 20 years experience teaching singing lessons. Her students have enjoyed many successes including winning local, provincial, national and international awards as well as going on to pursue professional singing/musical theatre careers across Canada and overseas.
Kelly is a strong advocate that the study of music benefits all aspects of learning and development and absolutely delights in encouraging students to love music and the stage.
