The RFOTA Awards
Now available for Kindergarten to Grade 12 students/participants.
Application deadline is the last day of the festival, April 21, 2024 at the Dance Venue at Teulon Collegiate.
Candidates must apply for the award and must have participated in the festival in the same year as the application is made. To be eligible, candidates must currently be a student of the Interlake School Division student in Kindergarten to Grade 12 or be a resident within the boundaries of the Interlake School Division and a student in Kindergarten to Grade12 in a school of their choice.
Ten awards of $150 Canadian each will be awarded to deserving participants (K to Gr. 12) to be used towards tuition fees for one of the following:
- International Music Camp (available to Grades 7-12 only)
- Manitoba Theater for Young People
- Private Lessons
- Performance Arts camp or workshop
Parents/guardians are responsible for any balance of tuition fees as well as transportation costs.The Awards Committee bases their choice on achievement, participation, self-development and musical/arts involvement within the community. Awards selections & decisions of the Awards Committee are final.

The Claudia Campbell Beginner Piano Award – This award is presented by the Rockwood Festival of the Arts to the most promising Beginner Piano Student, in his/her first or second year of instruction, and a resident or student of the Interlake School Division, based on more than one outstanding performance, solo or duet, in the Rockwood Festival. The selection of the winner will be made by the Piano Adjudicator. No Application is necessary. This award is to honour and show appreciation for Claudia’s ongoing dedication to the Rockwood Festival of the Arts.

The Ernie Webb Speech Choir Award – This award will be presented annually by the Rockwood Festival of the Arts to: “An outstanding Speech Choir (over 12 participants) Grades 1-9, from the Interlake School Division that has performed in the current year’s Rockwood Festival of the Arts”. The selection of the winner will be made by the Speech adjudicator. No application is necessary. The purpose of this award is to honour Ernie’s dedication to the arts in his community.

Interlake Music Award – Two awards of $400.00 each will be given out annually by the Rockwood Festival of the Arts. Applicants must apply for the award. Applicants must be an ISD student Grade 7 – 12 at the time of application and must be a member of an ISD School Band. Applicant must have participated in the festival in the same year the application is made. The award must be applied to an instrumental session for the International Music Camp at the International Peace Gardens.Applicants and parents/guardians should be aware of and are responsible for any outstanding balance on tuition fees, plus transportation costs and park entrance passes. Applicants and parents/guardians are encouraged to view the Internation Music Camp website at www.internationalmusiccamp.com.

Interlake Dance Award – Two awards of $200.00 will be given out annually at the Rockwood Festival of the Arts.Candidates must apply for the award and must have participated in the festival the same year the application is made. Applicants must be in *Kindergarten – Grade 12 (New for 2018) at the time of application and a student of the Interlake School Division OR be a resident within the boundaries of the Interlake School Division and a student in *Kindergarten – Grade 12 at a school of their choice. The award may be applied towards one of the following: a) Studio lessons, b) Summer dance camp, c) Dance session at the International Music Camp in the International Peace Gardens.

Laura James Scholarship Fund – Two scholarships, will be awarded annually at the Rockwood Festival of the Arts. The scholarships will be presented to the participants receiving the highest mark and/or showing the most outstanding performance, as judged by the adjudicator in: a) solo class of piano, and b) solo class of voice. The award must be claimed within two years of being awarded and be used for lessons or special courses in that field. Any student residing within the boundaries of the Interlake School Division and attending grades 1 through 12 at an educational facility of their choice, is eligible. In the event of a tie, the award money will be divided equally. A participant may not win the award in consecutive years.

Rockwood Festival of the Arts Grad Scholarship – In 2015 The Rockwood Festival of the Arts celebrated its 60th anniversary. The Festival Committee created an annual Grad Scholarship Award in recognition of this diamond anniversary. This award of $250.00 will be presented to a graduating student from the host town of the Rockwood Festival of the Arts.

Provincial & National Recommendations – Adjudicators may recommend students for Provincials which will be held in Winnipeg, MB (date TBA). If you are entering a Provincial or National class please see the Associated Manitoba Arts Festival website at www.amaf.mb.ca for requirements and rules. Provincial & National Recommendations are the adjudicator’s decision and their decision is FINAL. To be eligible for Provincial & National Recommendations one must have participated in the Rockwood Festival of the Arts in the same year as recommended, and must meet ONE of the following criteria:
- Be a resident within the boundaries of the Interlake School Division.
- Be attending an Interlake School Division School.
- Be a former student of the Interlake School Division.
